Researchers Tested and Found the Top 3 Masks that Provide the Most Effective Protection From Covid-19

The Coronavirus has caused the deaths of over 800,000 people in the world and has infected millions of people. The world shut down. Countries, cities, and states are following guidelines to open safely amid this Pandemic.

Simple steps people can take to protect themselves according to doctors and scientists are to 1. Keep your distance (at least 6 ft or more). 2. Wash your hands frequently and clean surfaces. 3. Wear face coverings in public, if you live in a multi-generational family household, or live with essential workers or first responders.

What type of face coverings offers the most effective protection from Covid-19? Researchers from the Duke University's Physics department conducted an experiment to test several types of face coverings.

“In the study published Friday, researchers with Duke’s physics department demonstrated the use of a simple method that uses a laser beam and cell phone to evaluate the efficiency of masks by studying the transmission of respiratory droplets during a regular speech.”

                                    The 14 Masks Tested
The researchers found that the fitted N95 mask was the "most effective mask." The next effective masks that "performed well" are the three-layered hospital masks and the three-layered cotton masks.

I can say from experience that the fitted N95 mask is the best mask. However, the N95 is reserved for and only sold to first responders, essential workers, and government businesses.

I love the three-layered hospital masks and the cotton three-layered masks that have adjustable ear straps. I wear these masks when it is necessary to leave home. Additionally, I keep a face shield with me too.
